My wife snapped this shot at the DFW Airport observation area recently. 737-800 (thanks, Racer!).

Grumman A-6 DSD

On the flight deck of the Intrepid. It's frequently described as a prototype of the A-6F, but that's not strictly true. It's actually a Digital Systems Demonstrator, intended to be a technology demonstrator for the planned transition from analog electronics to digital electronics, which was supposed to happen with the advent of the A-6F. A number of A-6F prototypes were actually built, but the aircraft never went into production because the Navy was enamored by the planned A-12, which also never went into production.

Taken with my K-3II and HD DA 16-85mm.

Shot on Kodak color film (probably 100ASA color film), with a Ricoh XR2S, with a Vivitar 90-230mm f4.5 Close Focusing Auto Zoom lens.

Copied with a Pentax K5IIs, and A50mm f1.7 lens with a Pentax Auto Bellows M and Slide Copier For Auto Bellows M.

Then something weird happened.

Death rays began shooting from it.

I snapped a quick picture and ran for my life.

Gone now, this B17 sat atop the islands at a Portland, Oregon gas station for many years.

Caught this Antonov-124 on 10/17/18 afternoon as my ferry docked at Eagle Harbor (west side of Puget Sound). Guessing he may have taken off from Paine Field at Everett. It was headed south and climbing, not in the pattern for either Boeing Field or Seatac. This shot is at the end of my 55-300 lens and cropped heavily (not real proud of this shot, but it tells a story).
Markings have it as a Volga-Dnepr aircraft, which is apparently a Russian carrier specializing in heavy lift cargos.
More or less equal to a USAF C-5? Not sure there is a commercial equal in the west.
Got my curiosity up what it may have been hauling in or out.

They fly into Paine Field several times a week carrying large subassemblies to Boeing.

Ryan YPT-16

National Museum of the United Staes Air Force at Wright Patterson Air Force Base near Dayton, Ohio.

"A military version of the civilian Ryan STA, the YPT-16 became the first monoplane acquired by the U.S. Army Air Corps as a primary trainer. The Air Corps ordered 15 YPT-16s after purchasing a single Ryan STA-1 in 1939 for testing as the XPT-16. From 1940-1942, the Air Corps bought nearly 1,200 more similar Ryan trainers as PT-20s, PT-21s and PT-22s. "
