This is the first and only subsonic airliner to officially break the sound barrier, and do this before the arrival of the supersonic Concord. This is not my picture, but that DC8 belonged to the company I flew for, so it was one of the aircraft I often flew. These first generation jet airliners were as fast as the latest, half a century on. Where the big gains have been made is in engines, both power and efficiency. One engine on a Dreamliner 787 puts out the same thrust as all four engines on this DC8 and uses far less fuel, thus allowing long range flying. Goggle "Supersonic DC8" if you want more details.

Excellent airshow images! I believe the 'something-or-other' is an Extra 330 aerobatic aircraft.

I was planning on going to this airshow in a couple of weeks but unfortunately it had to be cancelled

Here are some pictures from last year. It is an evening show and last year the weather was bad - almost rainy, something quite unusual...

If you want to see larger images you can click on the images here and see them on my Flickr.

Great stuff. The two Huey's in the first one are fantastic.

Too bad the seagull photo bombed the last one.

Thank you Steve! Not an easy catch and it's rare for the "Zeus" demo F-16 to release 5 flares at once (usually it releases one by one for longer periods).

Thank you Racer! I also love that frame the golden hour light really elevates the photo.
There are a lot of other nice pics of the Hueys but I liked this, because it is a strange moment as the rotors and the seagull are all symmetric in the frame.
Here is another one of the Hueys duo! I will post some more pictures only for the PF members sometime.

Nice shot of a neat looking Cessna 172 Skyhawk. I have a lot of hours in those.
