PP Competition #3 - Aug 30th-Sept 5th

You know what to do...take this image and post-process it to your heart's content. Submissions close at 23:59 5th September GMT, and the winner will be announced the next day.

Click the following link for the respective versions:
Original RAW: IMGP0494.PEF
JPG from RAW with default settings in Lightroom: http://www.mediafire.com/imageview.php?quickkey=xdw2ynwiqmv&thumb=4

Here's the small version of the photo in question:

Just so you know, my personal philosophy with post-processing is "More is more!" Good luck, and have fun!

And per usage, I'm going to take a leaf from Mike's post: "The original photograph remains the property of the original photographer. Members of Pentax Forum are granted full authorization to alter or manipulate said image for the purposes of the Post Processing Challenge. They are also granted permission to use the resulting image for their own personal non-commercial purposes. Original EXIF must be maintained identifying the original photographer." (Thanks to Mark for reminding me to post this!)

Hi Keitha.

Per the can-o-worms opened in PP#2, would you, please spell out your usage restrictions on the original and derivatives? I presume you are the photographer / copyright holder here.

Thank you, Keitha. I think Mike set a fine example and expect his text will get used often.

Now the next problem... the PEF file I downloaded does not seem to have copyright info embedded in EXIF. At least when I down loaded it and imported into LR1.2, it has the camera info, but no info on the photographer or copyright. I don't know if the large JPG has (c) info or not as I haven't downloaded it. But f you really want everyone to retain the original (blank) EXIF, just say so.

For my part, I will add your name as "Creator" and set status to "Copyrighted" with (c) text "2009 by Keitha McCall" to my copy of the PEF and let it propagate to my (eventual) entry from there. Just to help clarify & protect your ownership, I encourage you to repost the PEF (and if needed, the JPG) with (c) info in EXIF.

BTW, the small JPG posted is just lovely with the warm, glowing light. This one will be fun to play with, but hard to figure out how to "improve" it.

Regards.

Taking you at your word gave me an excuse to play seeing as PP isn't my strong point.
I did this with the small version you posted in the thread.

A difficult shot I think, wanted to increase the exposure of the trees to make them more white but not increase the exposure in the background so much but it got too complicated with all the small openings between the branches. ended up just going a more crazy route, though it looks more interesting in a small preview than at the larger size anyway I will at least enter it since I didnt enter last week

Yeah, this wasn't an easy one. I my first temptation was to make the trees more white, but it messed up everything else. Instead of just throwing away the PP work I did, I will post it up here for criticism.

Well Keitha, you said more is more so I more'd the heck out of it. Beautiful photo to start with and lots of challenging aspects to play with... Started with the .PEF in Photoshop CS3 and worked several layers to get this result.
