How many blades in that aperture? Had a Schneider 40mm Cassaron that had a similar aperture and an exceptionally tight, yet buttery-smooth operating focus. I had the feeling that the mechanics were more carefully designed and fabricated than the optics.

Salut W ... there are 20 total ... and they operate quite well.

OK ... let's try that again ... here's a test shot form yesterday when I bought the lens at my thrift store (5€ )

E is for Extended ... and

F is for Flowers ... @f/4 and at Poitiers' botanical garden ...

Looks like that near perfectly circular diaphragm did a good job softening a busy background.
