Originally posted by jmschrei It's actually Kidd's Beach, a village about 40 minutes down the coast from East London. It boasts a B&B and a restaurant. I was staying just up the road in a place called Seavale which is so small it only has a tuck shop.
I only saw Port Elizabeth in the dark. On the way out from Cape Town the bus broke down in the pouring rain at about 4:00 AM. Thanks to my 63 year-old Xhosa seatmate I made it safely on to the other bus. He made sure we got all our bags and secured the same choice seats we had before and then went back to get our bags from underneath and move them over. I had to laugh that at the end of the road you are not allowed to take your bags until the numbers on the little sticker Intercape gives you are matched against the one stuck on your luggage but in the middle of the night you're on your own!
Nice story Joe. That place looks so much like one I frequented in Port Elizabeth-complete with those poles and natural tidal pools.
Q- Quartet of Elephants having fun-though I think it should be Quintet, but the one is not so visible as these 4. And the title-Eaves dropping-does look like that one is trying to get into the "conversation" of the others. As I recall, they had a blast of a time, frolicking in the water.
