Balanced rock. This one is an erosional remnant. Many, probably the majority of balanced rocks are glacial erratics.

excellent photo

I like the natural shading you captured

unfortunately there are a few people who destroy such formations for a few seconds of "fun" and/or defile them with graffiti

Adults should teach children (of any age, including the adults who act like bad kids) to:

leave nothing but foot prints

take nothing but photographs

as much as possible

The classic advice to students on that: Do not question the words of someone more knowledgeable than you, except when they're wrong.

caveats

unless they are doing the grading - I remember a year in school where I would write "judgment" and was marked down claiming it should have been "judgement".

and with regards to game officials - wait until after the game, some may take offense and take it out on you or the team if you do it during the game

and did I mention someone being more "knowledgeable" than me??? I was merely referring to the # of posts in the forum

Descent, although I just ascended these steps, a few of the over 600 steps that go past the balanced rock posted above and on up to Natural Bridge at the top of this climb.
