I vividly remember watching that race. Even though the outcome was foregone long before Secretariat turned into the stretch, I was nevertheless gasping for breath right up to the official moment victory.

Valley, part of the famous Snake River. Many scenics I took in Idaho have slightly muted color because of smoke from many forest fires to the west. Some days, such as this, the effect was subtle and not especially noticeable when taking the picture.
