Viking axe, ca 1000 ce. An unusual design with the majority of the axe made of bronze with an iron cutting blade inserted along the edge. Much of the iron has rusted away while the bronze remains in good condition.

Boulders (The Larapinta Trail gets a little rough at times—actually it gets much worse than this)

Joe, I am enjoying your images from Australia; you obviously had a good trip (photog-wise if nothing else!)
You have seen lots of the country that I haven't seen. (My wife & I aren't great travellers, but we love virtual travelling - TV, other peoples travels, etc)

I'm certainly glad that the rainbow was as curious as the cows.

E PLURIBUS UNUM. One of a series of tests for various methods to obtain macro images, looking at FOV and IQ. This is the original (no PP of any kind) taken with a DA 300mm + a Canon 500D close-up filter, f8, strobe illumination. In this case the close-up filter has significantly increased magnification, but has slightly degraded IQ compared to the lens without the filer. A crop from the lens without the filter would probably show pretty much the same detail and crispness.
