Viking shoe or house-slipper, 9~10th century ce. Amazing that the cloth survived 1000 years so well. Notice that a different weave was used on the foot versus the ankle piece. The cloth over the foot looks really tight. It must have been, maybe still is impervious to cold breezes along the floor.

It's a bit faint, but there is an "X" atop this decorative trapping, probably from a saddle. Apologies for the poor IQ, Very dark museum, lots of coffee.

OOPS., correction. I thought that a soft image would lessen the harshness of this cold metalic object.
