Rifling

This was a 4.5in Australian naval gun destroyed by the ANZACS when they withdrew from Gallipoli. The Turks tried to take it as a souvenir, but it was too heavy to carry up the steep terrain, and not worth the effort (?), and left it on the battlefield. The Aussies recovered it in 1919 after the war and it is now displayed in the Australian War Memorial in Canberra.
