Evening at one of the lodges where we stayed in Kenya. As a photographer, I seem to cast a long shadow. Say noelcmn, isn't it about your bedtime?

Kiosk. As I've stated before, these metal kiosks are used all over Kenya, not necessarily selling soda although virtually all are painted this way with Coca Cola prominent.

Mules. I thought these were mules when I took this picture (from inside a tour bus), but the coloration, especially the dark stripe from the mane all the way down the back, the white belly and muzzle are more like an onager. SFAIK onagers are not generally used as domestic agricultural animals, so it's hard to understand why onagers would kept in the middle of Kenya. The stripe across the shoulders is not mentioned as a diagnostic feature in the sources I've looked into. If these are mules, they are fairly lightly, daintily built. The neck in particular looks slender for a mule.

Q and R - A Queue of volunteers in a lithograph titled Recruits. This 1915 work by John Copley is in an exhibit of war painting and propaganda at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York.

The Todd River in Alice Springs. Several long bridges cross this "river" for the odd occasions when it flows in case the water is high and wide.

I would settle for seeing one flying but as far as I know, I would have to be " over there " ( but in Britain, not France ) to have a chance to do so
