K is for KNOCKER. The location of this one with its Maltese cross is obvious.

Absolutely, everything wrong. My "neighbor" is a French military base ... and this was at their "open house" day!

There is nothing wrong with that picture at all. Decent shot and the boy is obviously having fun. Has every boy in the world stopped playing army all of a sudden? I seriously doubt it!

Instead of enjoying life some people have gotten too old to remember their own childhoods and have suddenly developed this unstoppable urge to get all PC about anything involving a gun. Take a chill pill!

Yea, i'll take the chill pill anyday. And though I agree with you about allowing children to enjoy life, the fact remains that there is more danger to that kind of toys than dumb parents realise. in point of fact one of the sad things in the pic is the absence of any parental presence let alone control. I may be wrong, but that gun looks real.
Or perhaps you have not known the pain of a lost child through a needless playing w ith a gun, or a child who maimed another through a gun. Sir, some of us live in a real world where guns are not toys but destructive things. It has nothing to do with old age but with how we raise our children. I for one never gave my son a gun, a principled decision BTW, and any gift he got that was a gun (even a water pistol) was replaced with something else. He is now 18, I am still to regret that decision.
There are other more constructive ways to allow children to have fun.

The chill pill is rather bitter!

Just for info, the machine gun was real and on exposition during the open house event ... The child played quite a while with this weapon and I do not remember seeing his folks intervene .... I'm not PC, rather I'm convinced that children and weapons are not a good mix ... enough said.

My son had a few water pistols, although none even vaguely resembled real firearms. I'm willing, in fact compelled to tolerate private ownership of firearms, but allowing children to play unsupervised with military weapons, or any actual firearms is really unsettling. In a nearby town, a shooting range/gun club allowed children to devastate pumpkins with an automatic gun, something like an "Uzi." One small boy could not control the thing - it kicked back and in front of his father the child was shot up his throat and through the head, He died on the spot. Guns are made to kill, some explicitly to kill people. I have no problem with purple and orange water pistols. I am disturbed by a real 50 caliber machine gun and an invitation to "have fun." We maintain a military not because it is "good," but only because it is a unfortunate necessity.
