Xyloryctes commonly called a rhinoceros beetle. Only males have the horn. I posted two images of this fellow on one of the insect threads, then when I found the generic name, I processed two more to get us past "X" on this thread. The reddish-orange stuff is just ground litter, probably rotten leaf fragments.

Attentive. A loving look? I think the dog's master was working on string cheese that is widely used to reward a dog after a run.
