Yup. Been informed and even if I don't remember precisely, I will remember that X-Y-Z on hatches & doors of naval vessels is for a progression of worsening conditions and need to keep such passage closed.

Table and chairs from the saloon of a late 19th century passenger ship. The chair at the right may not have it's original pedestal. The other three and the table have heavy cast iron pedestals, with those for the chairs having the immensely logical three-point stance. A rim around the table helps keep things on top.
