Q - Quebec cheeses.
The Nostrala is from BC, but the morbier and cheddar are from Quebec.

R is for RUINS of a multi-story building down in a deep, really narrow little crevasse. What was it?? Looks more like maybe a hotel than a private residence, but who would want to vacation down in that crack when there are some fine views from buildings above? If it is a home, who would want to live down there. Odd and enigmatic.

Sorrento (Italy). Could be it was some kind of factory. The building is wedged between two small streams. Notice the overgrown footbridge on the left of the building. However, the two large arched doorways don't look like something typical of a factory.

i'm stretching it...a pileated woodpecker on a tree which has xylan...A gummy substance of the pentosan class, present in woody tissue, and yielding xylose on hydrolysis

Yes, I think the factory (industrial?) guess is a good one - proximity to water, and a large chimney.
