D for DOLLARS. Many in USA are unaware of the change in the dimensions of paper money. Also, both of these are "silver certificates" that can be redeemed for "solid cash," whereas modern Treasury Notes are not so guaranteed.

Here's one pretty much like JP's unearthed- a toy train found amongst some stuff that is being cleared out-Put in a battery, and it still works, although I suspect the Battery is too weak to get it moving. Only the motor works. E- for Energiser
