S for SAVINGS. An entire TWO CENTS (!) off your next purchase from the Montgomery Ward catalog. The catalog was issued for Spring & Summer, 1939, the refund check was apparently distributed in the Fall, just in time for holiday shopping. Scanning through the catalog reveals much about inflation and life in America. Aside from the one dollar dresses posted above, the most expensive, all wool men's three-piece suit was under $20. Of 35 kitchen stoves, 20 burned kerosine or gasoline (same stove, slightly more expensive for gasoline model), 10 burned wood or coal, four were gas, and only one was electric. The Rural Electrification Program obviously had little impact by 1939. I was going to post this under "R" for refund, but missed.

You should take the battery out so it's tea time, all the time!

And what's this about Safeway? I had no idea you had Safeways in South Africa!

Y is for Yucca, the genus to which Joshua trees belong.

This is in Nevada, or maybe California. We don't have Joshua trees near Phoenix. They're a Mojave thing. Our Sonoran desert gets Saguaro instead.

You are behind the times sir-We are an-almost-American-colony!. My son, who resides in Connecticut and 18, when he comes for a visit (which was last June/July) is forever exclaiming- "What. you have that here too"- whenever he saw something familiar form back home. I've had that clock since 1990. But there are very little American Beers here, which is a commentary on its own about American beers . Imagine his excitement when we visits place called Montecasino, and there was a shop specializing in all things American, and yep, there was a few American beers. He made me promise to take him back there next time so he can enjoy one of those.
What i mean is-we've even got Pentax here. Better commentary than the beers
Very nice pic you've got there-my compliments on it!
