Thankfully no one was hurt. both the glass and the branch happened at the Manse where I live as the pastor. The congregation was safely ensconced in the church.

Noel, The rest of the world joins with your country in mourning the passing of Nelson Mandela. Here in Vancouver, like elsewhere, the flags are at half-mast.

Thanks Arn, yep its a sad period for us. I'd better not say more, and I am glad that he is being honoured for his contribution to our nation. And to the world.

B for BUMPY. I do remember those registers, and when a checkout person had to know how to count out change.

D is also for "dead" computer ... the laptop of the "office room" quit yesterday (?) ... thus, no recent posts possible for me, since it's the newest one with Lightroom and everything else recent on it ... do not worry, there's a stand alone mini-hard-drive as backup, etc.

We think (hope) that it's the transformer that's quit working ... maybe it went "south" and the battery was finally drained out while in sleep mode during Saturday morning and afternoon... this laptop runs basically all day on weekends and is only turned off during the night ... (on the downstairs Toshiba at the moment).

My wife will take it in Monday morning, since she's off that morning .. and guess what, the warranty just expired about a month and a half ago ... argh ! C'est la vie, J

I do ... I used one kind of like that in my grandparents' rural Arkansas "five & dime" store when I was a kid ... they let me "cash out" the customers at times, but always double checked my calculations for the return change ... lots of fun memories, J
