Darter- otherwise known as the snake bird. Darter probably refers to the way it swims underwater, short darts.

According to WIKIPEDIA, "Anhinga" comes from the Tupi language of Brazil, and means "devil bird" or "snake bird." Unclear whether the English "snake bird" was a separate coining or a translation of "anhinga."
