A is for Ape

a specific species of "Ape": http://www.biology-online.org/dictionary/Ape

one of the two female Borneo Orangutans (sisters) at the Topeka Zoological Park. This is not the mother of the young male, nor the "painter" but the more "friendly" of the two. She apparently loves to come to the glass window of the enclosure and interact with the onlookers. ( sorry, I can't do anything about the cleanliness of the interior side of the window )

[ speaking of the onlookers, I understand the kids calling them "monkeys" but I get irritated when adults do that. I have to catch myself from correcting those misinformed adults. I wish they would read the informative signs posted around the enclosure. Oh well ]

I've learned to check the eyes of the animals I have photographed, not really all that clear but it is an extreme close up of a reflection caught in the animal's eye photographed through a not so clean window so what can you expect??

K 3 + SMC Pentax-DA 40mm F2.8 XS

[ I really like this lens, monochrome - I am almost ready to forgive you bumping the price $1 before I convinced you to drop it by 50 cents when you sold it to me ]

Buckboard, the classic country doctor transport. And a selfie-shadow, to show off my stylish sun hat.

Concentration, which this fellow was doing while walking at Zoo Lake. When I asked him why he was being so serious, he said because he has been thinking about a serious matter, Land distribution, an ever present hot topic in the political landscape around here. And one that certainly requires a great deal of thought.

Door, scan from chrome.
Who owns, controls, or rules over what piece of land is still perhaps the worst curse upon us.

Flowers. These crocus are now all gone by. Is beauty more appreciated when it is so ephemeral?

This one is particularly nice. Such small things can make the difference between "that's OK" and "wonderful."
