Quetzalcoatl, the feathered serpent god of life & creation. In colonial time the head of the serpent at top was cut off and a square hole drilled to convert this to a support for a Christian cross. The double-sickle at the center is the snake god's tongue

The back lighting is very effective in that image. Sometimes back light really brings out the color in flowers & leaves, makes them glow.

Thank you. I was afraid the harshness of the light would be a bit much initially.

YIPPEE! YELLOW! Everyone's favorite subject for "Y." BTW: Taken with a Fuji S9000, my first digital camera. WHat is now commonly called a "magazoom" = fixed 28~300mm FF equivalent lens. I selected this model for several reasons: 1) zoom range; 2) filter thread on lens (not all that common in this type of camera back then): 3) AA batteries; 4) metal shutter release button threaded for a standard mechanical cable release. I do not understand why that last item is not a feature on modern DSLR's. This was probably taken with a Nikon 52mm achromatic close-up filter attached. Good bokeh.
