But in my experience, even if not treated, the dandelions do not stay around very long before they go away - in my section of the woods anyways (W.V., USA).
My father spent uncounted hours weeding dandelions from the front lawn. He thought it shameful, an embarrassment to the family and the neighborhood if there were a single yellow blossom defacing the uniform green of THE LAWN.
I could not care less, in fact, I'd rather plant up the entirety of our lawn with trees, flowering shrubs, patches of wildflowers, even native tall grasses save only for one small patch where M could practice agility with Dahlia.
