Second picture, it looks like the barn roof is in okay shape, certainly better than that of the house near it, or the of the other barn! Must be hay for ruminants in the barn with the bad roof, cow farmers aren't much concerned about hay getting wet it seems like.

A couple of barns in this photo I took today in an Amish area. I drove by this farm earlier and saw a man working on the barn roof. I didn't realize it later that I'd came around the same road and took this distant photo that it was the same place, and the man is up at the top of the barn roof.

Some lazy photographer ought to get out there and knock the ragweed down around his barnyard, instead of being on the dadburned internet again!

first photo on this thread

There sure are plenty of great photos on this thread, especially the ones of old barns. Tom Ramsey I love some of your sunset barn shots. Been over on the K-1 threads but recently have noticed all the other wonderful threads. Live on a small farm and this first post is a shot of my barn, certainly not an old one. There used to be an old barn here, built in 1875. The previous owner here had it taken down about 30 years ago to reduce his taxes, what a shame. He was not a farmer, and although I grow & harvest crops & such I am not calling myself a farmer. Let me just say I love playing in the dirt, planting, growing crops & trees, etc. In the future I hope to post some shots of the old barns in my neck of the woods. Something really wonderful about this thread & the ag & tractor ones is the input from folks all over the world.
Best Regards, Bob

Very serene - but the demands of development are pretty relentless. New development doesn't have the character of the old, people need somewhere to live, but so much is lost when this happens. (a retired planner whose first (student) planning job was in Hampshire)
