There's hope for a barn if the ridge pole is still straight, but the roof on that lean-to section closest to the camera seems to have really gone to pot and needs some serious rebuilding before any re-roofing.

I didn't know I could get forty bales on my pickup until the other day., what you see on the left in my picture. In the past I've usually considered a pickup load to be about 20-25. Drove it home about ten miles and not a bale fell off, but I did put a few ropes around the load for a change. Next couple of loads'll go up into the loft of the main barn section.

cat barn

goatsNdonkey, forty bales on a pick up truck is incredible for sure, plus not to drop any.
Dewman, very nice shot, I like the colors.
Here is a photo of a very well kept barn that obviously is not used for farming anymore but that cat in the picture calls it home I suspect.
Best Regards, Bob

a small local barn

Used to have another neighbor with an outside stack like the one on this barn. About 4 winters ago the pipe got red hot, ignited the siding. By the time the fire department arrived the barn was burnt to the ground.
Best Regards, Bob

Apparently it wasn't an insulated pipe. That probably caused it to put on creosote at an accelerated rate, which, if it caught fire, could have caused the pipe to get much hotter than usual.

Yes Sir Mr. goatsNdonkey, I do believe it was just the way you stated. I bet that old pipe was mighty hot.
Best Regards, Bob

goatsNdonkey I really like that photo, and a nice old barn & it even has one of those fancy roof vents. Looks like a fresh crop field next to it.
Best Regards, Bob

It was taken this fall, when some of the corn still had a little green left in it, and, as you noticed, the large swath of cornfield behind that barn had not been harvested. There was also quite a lush and healthy stand of grass around the barn, and in the foreground. It looked as if it might have at one time been fenced in barnyard or pasture, but obviously it had not been recently grazed or mowed.

I made several compositions of the rolling hills and barn. It was good late afternoon light, but I thought a black and white version would look good.
