Sunrise this morning. It's a 7 shot hdr pano so 21 exposures. The Lightroom HDR Panorama feature is pretty handy for this kind of thing!

Yesterday morning at the Castles. Color is on the way out and winter is moving in!

That is a fine landscape. Autumn color in MessyChewBits is late because of mild wet weather so they say - leaf color by experiment is primarily triggered by changes in day length. However, there has been a palpable change very quickly over the past three days, so there is more color than just on the sumac and trees growing on the edge of marshes and swamps. If unusually wet weather has allegedly delayed onset of Fall color, why are plants growing in saturated ground always the first to turn color in this area?

Thanks! We are having an especially colorful fall and the shades showed a lot more orange and red which was nice. Yellow is fine but I like a little more variety!

Whatever did it, I hope more falls look like this in the future!

I've been in areas of the interior west in Autumn and there is a great deal of yellow, aspens come to mind immediately. Here in the east the woods are more mixed = maple, birch, sassafras, oak, black cherry, poplar, sumac, etc. so there's a greater variety of colors. Maples in particular change several colors, red and yellow particularly even on a single leaf.

Four image stitch. Looking to the left just below the horizon you can see a near black line starting at the shore and swinging out, going all the way to the extreme right where it reconnects to the shore where there's a small, lone palm tree. That is a fence or wall of boulders built as a fish trap. There's a gap just about straight out that was closed by a net-like mesh of logs and sticks. Small fish could get in to the protected area enclosed by the wall and feed without fear of predators. Eventually they'd get too big to pass back out through the stick fence and the Hawaiians could harvest them by net, hook, or spear.
