Looks like they still work well, good job!
Thank you sir! All set to try out some more in the days ahead.

I wish macro ring (tube extender) sets came with more sizes at the small end. I love those best. They make a big difference in magnification with medium wide to normal lenses, yet they steal very little light! I'd love to find a sent that included a 6mm, 8mm, 10mm, 12mm, 24mm, and 36mm. I've bought whole sets just to get another ring of a very short size. In fact, I just ordered a set because it included an 8mm ring!
Agreed, would be nice. I think the set I have is 12, 24 and 36mm. The latter I found particularly diffcult.

A limitation for small rings = mechanical aperture control connection. The K-mount aperture lever requires a certain amount of space within the extension tube to connect between body & lens. All electronic connection as in Canon and MFT makes it easier to design a short tube, but even there, the wiring and the length of the bayonet mount on the lens place a limit on how short a tube can be.

In my two-tube set for MFT the shorter one is 10mm. I have an ancient Spiratone M42 tube set that has no aperture linkage. It has a tube about that short, but I'd have to measure to get the actual length.

Just checked on the Spiratone tubes, and the shortest one is about 11~12mm in spite of the fact it is just a threaded tube, no linkage mechanism at all.

Good point. In my case, however, most of my extension tubes and bellows I've acquired are m42 screw mount, since I find them more versatile--usable on m42 film bodies, or with adapters on K-mount film or digital bodies. I usually disable the auto-stop-down pin, so I can use the aperture on m42 lenses without an M/A slider switch manually.

Two of the miniature windmills that form the outdoor decor at Zulas (previously Moyo's ) restaurant at Zoo Lake. They are busy clearing out much of the stuff there as the restaurant has closed.

I met a backyard creative genius today who proudly showeed me his kite angling winch. Adapted from a motor scooter and incorporating rear hub, drive shaft, centre stand, parts of the frame, kick start, electric start, ignition wiring, hand throttle and hand brake, sundry bits of flat steel, and a lawnmower fuel tank. He launches a three kite harness that has a baited line suspended from it and this baited line is attached to a long draw line that he estimates will allow the kites to go off shore at least a kilometre. There is a flag at the junction of the three lines which he monitors - as long as it is sitting a couple of meters above the surface hes happy. If it sinks its time to reel in as either he's hooked something massive or the wind has dropped. The bait pieces ready for next launch were huge so he expects monsters.

This winch is anchored to his large 4WD vehicle allowing him to retrieve it as needed without breaking his back. The drag force on the kites while i was with him during a stiff off shore breeze had the spool line running out a full revolution or two every couple of seconds.

And he was successful. See my portrait of an earlier catch here...
The setup can be seen here.

Despite the pitting and rust on the surface. I'll wager both hook and chain are still up to the assigned task and will outlast the shiny newer padlock.

A very old bolt, it is. The nut looks to be hand forged, and the head with indicates the bolt was made to be used in an integral interference fit hole.

It does look like the shank is worn beyond the service limit, though.
