I looked back in the thread a few years and there are not enough canoes. Though I suppose there is not enough of this canoe (yet) either.

This is my dad's 1944 Old Town HW 16 model wood-canvas canoe. These canoes were primarily held together with tacks - 2500 or so. In 1944, brass was in short supply because of the war, so they used steel instead. Steel rusts of course, and the iron oxide weakens the surrounding wood. Boat people call it iron sickness. The rib in the foreground is the result. I'm replacing 34 ribs, 10 planks, half the stem on each end and the gunwales. I am aware of Theseus's paradox. I think I can finish in 2018 but maybe not before lakes freeze over.

I passed through the Show Me state a few hundred times over the 5 years I drove big trucks. Missouri has very unique landscape and some areas are unmistakable.

If I look through the window the right way, I get three cars for the price of one!
