That one looks too nice to just leave on the roof!

An old logging tug I came across while walking the dogs one day. Notice the protection for the prop....and the winch available from a PTO off the front of the four banger.

Nice shots there Charlie It is surprising that it is still that intact. Around here the prop would be gone for sure and anything else along with it. Then it would be torn up and "Tagged" for the Heck of it. It would be A LOT of sand blasting all the old lead based paint for sure along with all that rust. How far from the water is it by the way It might be a task to move that much iron for sure.

Yes it's a bit of a "Fix'er Up'er" but it looks like it may not have been sitting there for too long because the wood in the cradle isn't rotten.
I'm also surprised that the gas engine hadn't been replaced by small diesel engine. Boats like that with gas engines were notorious for catching fire and or blowing up.

I'm surprised that some Maritime Museum around Owen Sound hasn't tried to recover the boat because I'm pretty sure the yard that built it is long gone. It could make quite the "Make Work" Project for the cadets of the Marine School in Georgian College as well

Well it's sitting on Provincial Park Land so it is protected to some degree. It might even be destined for a museum in the area; there are a few Ottawa Valley and logging museums around there.

I too had the 230 flathead six on my '56 Dodge; with the two-speed auto, and the pushbutton shifter.

Here's a container ship coming into English Bat a couple of days ago.

I'm certain it was the same engine. Chrysler actually introduced that engine in 1938! My '55 Savoy had a small automatic transmission lever on the dashboard, rather than the pushbuttons you had, to control that same 2-speed auto trans. The amazing contrast between those cars and those of today is the amount of space under the hood around the engine. With the hood up, two adults could stand on either side of the engine, and play cards on top of the engine. Now just trying to reach an arm in next the engine can be a struggle!
