You guessed correctly, sir! It's a somewhat rare '63 Bel Air 2-door sedan.

About 10 months ago, I posted a photo of my canoe restoration project, when I thought I'd be done in fall 2018. I missed that, but today I finished the traditional waterproof coating on the traditional canvas. Fifty years ago my dad spent the winter removing that and fiberglassing the same canoe. I know it looks like some sort of weird concrete thing but when this stuff dries in several weeks, I can paint it red and it'll look a lot better.

You were on a public road, why was that a problem?

I came across a field of old cars in South Carolina some years back, and was making exposures when some guy came along and told me I had to pay for the privilege. I asked him how he figured since I was standing on a public road. He tried to change the subject, telling me how his cars had been in movies.

So we struck up a conversation and soon the fading daylight gave me an excuse to tell him I had to go.

But we had a nice conversation, and he gave me his junk business card with an invite to ring him up the next time I was down that way.

Specifically it is a 1963 Chevrolet Bel Air 2 door post. Notice the frames around the windows on the doors.

Good question. It wasn't a problem for me, but it was for them. Some people are like that, I blame TV.

Most country people in rural North Carolina are very friendly and pleasant, but you run across these fearful, suspicious types now and then. I explained that I admired the old car and just wanted to take a few pictures of it, but they were adamant about me leaving. You never know, they could be cooking crack in the woodshed.

I'm a gregarious old man with a Santa Claus beard, a big smile and a gift for gab, but sometimes that's not enough. No photograph is worth killing or being killed over. Sometimes it's best to just smile, wave and drive away.

Signal system still in use by the MTA in the NYC Subway system... it is old, lots of "signal problems" are reported daily delaying rush hour commute.

Nowadays if you venture uptown enough and to the outer boroughs you'll likely see the Green variety of these old NYC icons... However, they're less and less evident than 2-3 years ago due to Uber, Lyft and such mobile auto options.
And finally, 5 months later I captured a good example of the greenies:

I've seen Cords before--only 3000 were made in total, but this was a magnificent restoration and I really wanted to go over the ropes, but the security was tight and I'm respectful. Here's another one.
