I took that ferry once so I cannot really remember the scenery. The Tsawwassen to Victoria ferry ride is beautiful as it winds it's way through many an island. The horseshoe bay to Nanaimo ride; not so much.
But it's faster if you are going to Nanaimo (or in our case, Gabriola: 20 minutes on another ferry from downtown Nanaimo).

Take your time, enjoy the ride.

Reminds me of a tale of two bulls, a young one, and an old one, standing on a hill overlooking a pasture full of cows.

The young bull says to the older one, “Let’s run down there and have our way with one of those cows!”

To which the older, and much wiser older bull queries, “Why don’t we walk down there and have our way with them all?”

A scenic view, the ferry I was on holding back while the Tsawassen bound ferry clears a narrow passage.

Active Pass doesn't leave much maneuvering room, does it? My Dad was a commercial fisherman (1928 32' double ended troller) and on his way back from Bamfield on the West coast of Vancouver Island to the mainland where we lived, met a rip tide combined with a ferry wash that touched his poles to the water. He figured he was a goner, but the Kitty came back up – probably thanks to the Easthope 12-14 and clutch: not the lightest engine in the world!.

My wife and I were on the route in the photo above, same direction, at the other end of the strait when we heard six quick blasts from the horn. A complete idiot was fishing in the navigable channel. He got out of the way just in time. How anyone can expect the Queen of Victoria to stop on a dime is beyond me.

I stopped Monstro where the deck attendant told me to.

The other driver?

Not so much.

My camping rig is a whole 11m (36 ft) in length. I stop when they tell me to stop, not before, and nicely centred in my lane, just so doors will open and people can walk to the stairways.

There is room for an SUV and a SmartForTwo or 2 Honda Civics in front of the white rig. That means that a couple of vehicles didn't make it onto this run, assuming it was a high volume run, of course.
