Some more from the home for the rolling stock that nobody loves anymore. These are from back in May when I first discovered the place in a corner of the moor that I don't usually visit.

P-47 Thunderbolt at the SoCal CAF museum. It's in the very early stages of restoration, and sadly has been that way for awhile.

I think you meant "Liberator", but a beautiful shot of a rare plane.

At Channel Islands Harbor recently -

B-17
B-17, also called Flying Fortress, U.S. heavy bomber used during World War II. The B-17 was designed by the Boeing Aircraft Company in response to a 1934 Army Air Corps specification that called for a four-engined bomber at a time when two engines were the norm.

Yup, TT and PaulH, I stand corrected. My wife's father was a mechanic in WW2 who worked on the Flying Fortress (B-17).

Great shot. That looks like an early model B-24, without the nose and tail gunner turret. A book, The Wild Blue, by Stephen Ambrose gives some insight on what it was like to fly these beasts during the war.

My dad was a flight engineer (read: mechanic) in the Ferry Service during WWII, they ferried aircraft to North Africa, mostly B29s

I am not an expert, Kevin, but I suspect it is a de Havilland of some sort.
If I remember rightly, our Royal Flying Doctor Service used some of these as air ambulances many years ago.
Wangaratta used to have a very nice collection of old aircraft (all still airworthy) in the 1980-1990s until the business plan proved so wrong that they were sold off.
The collection had a couple of de Havilland's of this sort.

Very nice. Can't help but think of this video - not about photography per se, but think it will make sense:
