My first air flight was in a DC-3 when I was 16 years old (1956 for the snoopy) from Vancouver to Prince George through the mountains and thunderstorms. The only time I was more motion sick was repairing the lighting on my dad's crab boat in the engine room with a sideways swell running.

I saw many films in the 50's that had at some point a DC-3 in bad weather, and saw other instances - how many times? - in Terry and the Pirates. On the other hand you, as well as 99% of others in that plane under those circumstances, nevertheless got through.

Yeah, the plane wasn't sick at all. I was.

I went back to images from a 2014 auto show on the local town common. All but one or two of these have been shown on other threads years ago. Apologies to followers of this thread who have already seen some or all of them.

Wow...that car-hop tray brings back some memories! At the Chevy dealer 'vette show we stumbled on a few years ago, several of the car owners had similar faux-food car hop trays on the cars. Very realistic stuff, I must say, and a lot of fun. I'm not sure that I photographed any of it, but I'll scrounge in the Kr archives to see.

I included that image specifically because i was sure it would bring back memories. Most of my experience with the tray-on-a-car-window were A&W drive-ins, with the promise of a root beer float at the end of the meal. Later I was introduced to Mel's and waitresses of roller skates which even then I thought was highly peculiar.

Indeed, when I was a kid we would often go to Kelly's Drive-In (in Miami; long gone, alas), and get a burger or something before driving across the road to the LeJeune Drive-In Theater. I don't recall that the car-hops had roller skates, though. I know they did at some places. But I do remember the food trays. A milk shake was the ultimate treat.

Here's two of the four. Coffee joint called the Blue Banana found in the booming metropolis of Lostine Oregon. Older image re-worked.
