A couple shots of the Grapevine Vintage Railroad. The train makes round trips from Grapevine to Ft Worth TX (about 20 miles each way). At one time, they used an old steam locomotive, but recently switched to a diesel. Taken during Halloween weekend using an A35/2.8:

Cobra seen at a recent car show - not sure if it's genuine or a replica, but it's nicely done.

It is a replica.

The simple matter of fact with Cobras is that the original 427 Shelby Cobra only numbers 327 or so examples, all told, and the various companies that make replicas of same make more than that in a month. The real deal Cobras are extremely rare, and so it's pretty good odds any Cobra you see is a replica, to the point that the chances that it's genuine are essentially 0, unless you're at a Concours D'Elegance, Goodwood, or a museum.

Anyone with a real, genuine cobra probably wouldn't have fitted it with non-factory style wheels, as well, but that's not an impossibility.

I'm not saying you'll never see a genuine Cobra, just that it's very unlikely. Some of the replica companies make amazingly good quaity Cobras, some even better performing than the original, and even endorsed by Shelby American. But they are not the original

I need to dig through my slides. Back in the late 1980's I attended the SOVREN Historic and Vintage road races at Pacific Raceway in Kent, WA. There was an original Cobra race car there. During one of the 'races' the driver got tangled up with another car or had an off. It wasn't real bad, the rear corner on one side, behind the tire.

Tragic.

But fixable.

The Flying Scotsman at my local railway station when it was brought to Australia in 1988 for our Bicentenary. Looking at the clothing, it was winter so that would be, say,Jun-July 1988 or 1989. If it was 1988, the camera was a Pentax Spotmatic, Super Auto Takumar 55mm f1.8. If '89, it was a Pentax SFX with 35-70.

I didn't realize how few real ones are left. I've only seen them in photos, almost always with the factory wheels and "skinny" tires.

There were only 327 ever made. Even fewer are left.

There are, of course, many more of the 289 and 260 cobras than 427s (A couple thousand), but most of the kit bodies are of the big-block car.
