Heat mirage coming off the tracks and the hot engines made me glad I chose my manual focus Tokina SZ-X 60-300mm lens for the K-5 today. General Electric D9-44CW #9318 leads a fast Norfolk Southern double stacked container freight westbound at Burd's crossing, Derry Township, Westmoreland County, PA. this afternoon.

Two coats of red paint finally start to make my canoe look like I'm doing something. Only about twenty things left on my list.

A couple of years ago, it was sort of red and the fiberglass was a considerable percentage of the remaining structure.

I used my Pentax 300mm f4.5 F* lens on a K5iis to capture a Buffalo & Pittsburgh RR train on its way to one of the largest coal fired electric generating plants in the USA, Homer City, PA. Lead locomotive #458 is a 3000 H.P. rebuild of a former Southern Pacific RR electro-Motive SD-45 built in 1967.

I believe it is an Auburn Speedster, but it may also be an Auburn 851, 654, 852 or 852S. I'm not really fluent in Auburn cars, but they are beautiful examples of artistic craftsmanship typical of the era.
