In Yellowstone I've seen those multitude of 'jams' you mention, . . .
I learned personally how dangerous it is to get out of a vehicle during such a jam

I saw it up ahead, the vehicle I was in pulled off the road, I saw some big horn sheep cross the road and go down to the river

I walked down the road slowly keeping my eyes on the ones below at the river and those still on the cliff across the road and started to take photos

I saw the group at the river come up and cross the road back to the cliffs

I began to walk back to the vehicle and my wife signaled me and pointed back to the river

there was a second group which had been there that I hadn't known about and I almost walked directly in front of that group as it came up to cross the road

I was way too close to that group and this ram

luckily all he did was stare at me as I stopped and then he decided to cross with his ewes

It looks very like a slightly-modified Austin Seven, to me.
Yes, I wonder. That is what I was thinking too.

I've been in similar situations. We have a lot of wild animals up here in western Canada where I live, but I can honestly say, I've never been in a Buffalo 'traffic jam' before.

Yellowstone, Montana and Wyoming are great places to travel The history (we also went to Little Big Horn, etc.), the scenery and the people ...all exceptional.

One time I got out at a bear jam in Waterton Lakes National Park (sister to US Glacier National Park) I was at the tail end of a long line up jam on Red Rock Canyon Road. A mother with twin cubs was foraging. I got a great shot of them, and use it for my desktop. I used a tripod, K10D and M 400 for the group shot from about 150 meters/yards away. Close enough for me.

Ram.....and with older Dodge trucks...even a beautiful Ram hood ornament. Yesterday I talked about my wild beast of the Africa... two Impalas....

Remember the '60's...wild animals, at least in car guise were all over...Buick Wildcat, Ford Mustang, Mercury Cougar, Sunbeam Tiger, Corvette Sting Ray.... to name a few. And then....cars named after swords...Sunbeam Rapier, Oldsmobile Cutlass.

Now we have names that make little sense to me....Nissan Sentra, Chevy Equinox....

You, Americans and your oversized everything :P Here is a car for 2+2 family travelling from Poland to Bulgaria for vacations, licenced Fiat 126 With K-3 Mk III and 20-40 Ltd:

And some ships I got on other side of the port when I was visiting Museum of Emigration in Gdynia (Fiat above is from museum). 55-300 PLM:

And a fishing boat, parked (?) at a beach in Sopot, also courtesy of 55-300 PLM. Sorry for weird colours, I was playing with Pentax custom color settings

Look at that massive bloated car. Not all Americans want big cars give me a Peel P50, or if you want some spacious comfort a Messerschmitt KR200. For a project car I ended up getting a '68 MG Midget and sold the concept to the wife as I told her it was about twice as big as the original car I wanted as a project, BMW Isetta 300. I keep looking for a HMV Freeway locally that hasn't been rolled as there is some local history with those since they were made in the next town over.

Oh, I dunno. My Ram is just right. Cozy and comfortable with heated leather seats for winter travel, air conditioning for those hot summer days, and capacity enough to carry my camper with a nice cozy bed to sleep in, a kitchen to prepare delicious meals, and a bathroom so I don't need to use public facilities. It can also safely tow my trailer with one of these inside.

The red one is for racing, the brown one for cruising on twisty canyon.roads.

They are both small, the red one only has one seat, the brown one two.

Just right.
