Wow, that engine is gleaming! I was an engineer on HMS Fearless, a British commando carrier, and I'm afraid that nothing ln the engine rooms looked as good as that. It took all our time just to keep things operating. But as one of the Chief Artificers said, we did not have "leaks", we had "seepages" . The Fearless was to be the last conventional steam ship in the British Navy.
The Bowfin is on display specifically for tourists at Pearl Harbor. I have no doubt that it was thoroughly sanitized before the public was admitted. Nearby is the USS Missouri. Several areas below decks are open for self-guided touring by the public, but most of the ship below decks is off limits because, according to supplied information, they are too dirty.

I've posted images of the USS Bowfin on other threads, so I'll but one here together with images of one of the diesel engines and some of the controls.
Very nice shots of the engines. They have done a very good job polishing up the brass and cleaning the metal parts.

Two derelict boats parked on a stream in California, photographed in the 60's when I was a student at Berkeley. It was used for a while as a spot for fishing in lieu of a pier. Scan of a chrome converted to B&W because of hopeless color change/fading.

PS: After a little research that I should have done before posting this image. The ferry "Garden City" was built in 1879. It was destroyed by fire in 1983. Some of the heavy metal bits are apparently still there and visible in satellite images..

I'm not 100% sure, but based on the time the photo was taken, the freighter looks to be possibly a WW2 Liberty Ship

That was my impression looking at it. There was a time when I went north along the Hudson River a spotted scores of Liberty Ships tied side-by-side awaiting use as targets or homes for fish, or both for that matter.

That was the “Mothball Fleet,” which was part of the Naval Reserve. I used to see it when heading up to West Point or points further north. The last ship departed in 1971.

Be careful where you push, you might just push the rusty coachwork off the frame.
