It took me a while to track down this image of a beautifully restored Jaguar on display during an auto show on the town common.

It must be a modern-retro truck with a radio-remote key, or maybe you must climb through the window, or perhaps enter only from the safer passenger side = curbside (provided you're in a country where you drive of the right-hand side of the road).

Remember when it was required? There was a period when the lock cylinder was only on the street side door, none on the driver’s door.

All for safety.

And before seatbelts.

And before the now pretty much standard two bucket seats with a center console containing either standard or automatic shift lever, in other words when the shift was on the steering column and only a modest transmission bump kept you from sliding across the front bench seat. We had a Ford F100 "commercial" which seemed to mean Ford blue, four speeds on the column (an extra wall-climbing low) and super-duty black fabric on the seat that probably outlasted all other material in that truck. Easy to slide between passenger and driver's side, but heaven help your rear end if you slid in after the sun had been shining through the windshield for a few hours onto that black faux-leather seat.

A huge amount of weight there, count how many wheel and tire assemblies there are. I counted 24 axles including the steer axle. The load should be around 400,000 lbs.

I bet the forward speed of the rig was very slow.
