I see what you mean, the sea is a bit brighter at the horizon. Yeah I can get rid of the bird .

K3 DA10-17 at around 13mm
upper half is using 11 sec setting and I bump ISO up and using wider f-stop setting to get a shorter shutter speed for the water part below. And simple Photoshop masking can do the rest.
I feel like longer shutter speed make too smooth looking water and loose its sense of power in a still image.

I wouldn't mind seeing the end result of the modifications.
I personally don't find the bird distracting.
