Quick! Get that bridge listed on the register of historic buildings! (You don't have to own the property to nominate it, and whether it's accepted is a governmental decision.) And given the subject of your picture, it may be protected under the Migratory Fowl Act.

Yes, the city had considered that, but the problems are the support pylons are fracturing and breaking apart, as well as the iron trestle has severe rust issues due to the fact the Arkansas River has naturally dissolved salts which exacerbate the rusting. Also, there is a benefactor who is willing to pay for the replacement bridge, and what city could resist that? The birds mostly use it to perch to catch fish and they'll be able to do that with the replacement...

Underside of the bridge at Kelly's Ford, over the Rappahannock, straddling the border between Culpeper and Fauquier Counties, Virginia. Scene of big fight during the Great War between Virginia and the United States. Now, just a peaceful place to do some smallmouth bass fishin'.

That is one lonely truck... I wonder how'd it be to drive one of those plows.

I’ve operated snowplows before, one on a pickup, and one on a big dump truck like that, with a salt/sand spreader mounted on the box.

The best time of day is at night, when traffic is light. People in cars have no appreciation of what it takes to drive a big truck, let alone one with a plow hanging off the front, so late at night when they are sleeping is the best time.
