Thanks - we had a few days with lots of fog where we live by the water.

This is the Kinsol tressle near Mill Bay. The Trestle opened in 1920, was the largest wooden trestle in the Commonwealth at 144 ft high and 617 feet long, with the last train to rumble across it in 1979.

The Trestle was starting to fall down, but has been rehabilitated to join other sections of the "Galloping Goose" bike/walking trail. Galloping Goose was a nickname of an odd looking and noisy gas rail car that ran passengers up and down the line back in the 1920s. It's great it's been redone and can be used again, but I really wish I found it for photos a few years ago in it's original condition.

Great info Steve.

Near where I live they had those gas powered passenger rail cars too. They ran from Granite Falls to Monte Cristo, with a few stops along the way, one being the lodge at Big Four mountain. The lodge burned down years ago and only the fireplace still stands. The railroad is long gone too, but much of it has been turned into a hiking trail.

There is a place in Idaho that has one of those gas rail cars on display in the city park. Soda Springs, which also has a geyser that blasts a stream into the air many times each day.

Thanks for the info! I am glad that they repaired it so people can still enjoy it.

Yes it has always been red although the actual structure is a slightly darker red. I pumped the colour a little for this version.

Maybe it was a black and white photo I saw then. The bridge has a very unique structure, and is quite popular for shutter bugs.

This is the same walk/bike path bridge I posted in #734, taken earlier in the year from a different viewpoint (xposted):
