The building on the right is not strictly a church, it's an "imperios." These little chapels, elaborately decorated inside and out, do not have regular clergy or services. They are used on a particular date once a year, I think it is Pentecostal Sunday. They are locked the rest of the year, and the majority have curtains on the windows so you cannot look into them.

Not granite and marble and probably sparely decorated within, but the faith and passion are probably just as great.

*ist DS, 18-55, 1/6 @ f/13. Somewhere around 31mm according to the EXIF, though it was of course varying during the exposure!
