This Methodist church has been at this site since 1832. The current building dates to 1889.

This arches out in the middle of the building was interesting . . . note the railroad crossing type sign to the right of the image . . .

This building had a lot of arched wooden doors . . .

The Methodist church continued . . . More arched doors and arched windows . . . and walk ways . . .

The basement door held down by a cross is the most interesting thing I found in Monticello this trip . . .

Unlike the abandoned Bethel AME above, the Pisgah AME is still active. They recently put up a new sign to replace the old wooden and masonry sign that had been there for decades. The 2 buildings are ~ 25 miles apart.

I'm afraid I don't know the name or denomination of the church. It's in Halifax and stands out as it's made of bright white marble.....perhaps someone that knows the area can indicate which church it is....

Shot looking at it from my hotel....

And a walk by...

The cemetery out front was used from the 1700s and was full by the mid 1850s. It wasn't open but it looks like they might allow people in during the summer time. I noticed how many "tiny" graves there were....presumably infant mortality was high during that time....
