Interior of a church or maybe better called a chapel. Seating is pretty severe.

Many years ago I inspected a nearly abandoned gold mine just NW of La Garita. I don't recall the church...

It's remote, rugged country around there. I love it! The church is WSW of town and the shot is from nearby Penitente Canyon.
It was certainly there when you were unless you are really old!

Capilla de San Juan Bautista was constructed in 1924–26 in La Garita in the San Luis Valley. It replaced a similar church that was built in 1879 and burned down in 1924.

So often the grain elevator was the tallest structure in town, especially in towns in which the residents had their own wells, meaning there was no municipal water tower.

Spent last weekend in Genoa, some impressive architecture on offer not least the churches. Popped my head in to a couple and they are mightily impressive inside, this one is I believe called St Syrus’s Basilica

Interior of a modest little church with extensive murals painted by an itinerant artist who did it in exchange for food & lodging (Iceland)

This is Mt. Zion Baptist Church where I attend. I am at least a 4th generation family member. This is the second building built. It was built in 1832. The original church was built in 1827.

Brings back memories - I attended that church three decades ago. At that time the village was like the streetscape on the left with the pink/red roof rather than the modern 'stuff' on the right.

I was interested to read this comment. Apart from the church itself, which was very eye-catching (especially with the clock tower), and the spectacular hill as the backdrop, I was intrigued by the contrast between the old stonework church, and that modern "stuff" in the foreground.

I was talking with a friend a few weeks ago who lives in Port Chalmers still and his observation over many years is that the Dunedin region has undergone huge modernisation recently and now feels like a big modern city whereas when I lived there it was a backwater with the only industry the University. Otago University is the oldest University in New Zealand and the university situated at the most southerly latitude in the world. It felt like it when I attended. Brrrr.
