Give me time to get onto the desktop and share one of my images of the same little church. Always interesting - at least to me - to see how different photographers deal with the same subject.

As you can see, I selected a similar spot along the path at the rear to photograph that church, plus a few other places as I'm sure you did as well. Did you also stop at Palmer chapel? (second group of three images below)

Another perspective on the Cade's Cove baptist church, and the spartan interior. Looks like a a pretty uncomfortable place to sit through a lengthy service, but you're not supposed to be comfortable. lest you doze off.

Very good! I believe we went into the Methodist Church when we were there 2 years ago. I think this shot was take in that one.

Unfortunately our trip through Cades Cove got cut short this time and I didn't get very many photos. We plan to go back to GSMNP next year associated with the same event we went to 2 weeks ago. I also hope to spend some more time on Blue Ridge Parkway, looks like lots of cool stuff there.

Yes. Your image is clearly the same church as the interior I posted (Palmer Chapel Methodist Church). Later today (we're about to go out for our AM walk) I'll post a couple images of another little church in that area, one with a plain but interesting interior.

Another church in the Cade's Cove area, outside and in. With no pulpit, lectern or altar, this is easy to identify as a Quaker chapel.

Churches offer an interesting and good variety of interior volumes of all kinds, see my page on 360cities.net for a choice of different ones, here:

The cylindrical tower is somewhat outside the pattern for quaint English country churches. It hearkens back to the cylindrical ecclesiastic towers built in Ireland very early in the Christian era..
