Church overlooking an estuary in Maine. Notice the old boat launching ramp on the nearside of the church. It might once have been a life-saving station.

This church is not what I think of as typical New England architecture except for the white clapboards

Built around 1816, El Santuario de Chimayó is a Roman Catholic church in Chimayó, New Mexico. This shrine, a National Historic Landmark, is famous for the story of its founding and as a contemporary pilgrimage site. It receives almost 300,000 visitors per year and has been called "no doubt the most important Catholic pilgrimage center in the United States." - From Wikipedia

I don't have very many images that contain churches, which is quite surprising since they can have some interesting architecture. Here's an abandoned one that we came across while hiking in rural Kentucky.

San Jose de Gracia Church
Also known as Church of Santo Tomas Del Rio de Las Trampas, is an historic church on the main plaza of Las Trampas, New Mexico.
Built between 1760 and 1776, it is one of the least-altered examples of a Spanish Colonial Pueblo mission church, with adobe walls rising 34 feet (10 m) in height.
It was declared a National Historic Landmark in 1970.
