Originally posted by rod_grant Walt, there is a church at Paynesville on the Gippsland Lakes in Victoria where the pulpit is in the shape of the bow of a boat and picture windows behind it looking out over the lakes. It is a long time since I saw it but you probably had to be standing to see the lakes beyond the preacher. Probably very distracting when there were power boats on the lake - particularly when there were races!!
EDIT
Well, it is not quite as I remember it (maybe 50 years ago!)
St Peter's by the Lake Anglican Church
Well, that's two churches with such a window. How do you suppose that calculates as a percentage of all churches in New Zealand and Australia?
BTW: Here's the view from the pews of the Church of the Good Shepherd. It is potentially as inspiring and humbling as any stained glass, except the parishioners see the view every day so it may be less special. Sorry if the image looks over-processed. No HDR and the original was badly washed-out.
