I've never quite understood why sign writers put things in quotation marks. Who is being quoted? Why is that statement having to be attributed to someone, and why are they not then attributed? Is it something which is contested? All very odd.

I think I posted this image on this thread several years ago. Several thoughts 1) it's vandalism; 2) the multiplicity and diversity of stickers make it interesting; 3) other signs at the Nat'l Monument had multiple identical stickers, as if someone brought a bunch with the intention of applying them to many signs. Yes it makes an interesting image, but it is VANDALISM Someone will have to take time and work hard to remove them, and that will eat up taxpayer money. Both the employee's time and the money could and should go to better purposes.
