Eckley (CA) apparently also known as "Garden City" (just visible low along the side of the ferry). The sign at the far right reads: "Eckley Fishing Resort Courtesy Dock" with another reference to "Garden City." Maybe once upon a time.
FYI added after some research. The ferry was named "Garden City." It was retired from service in 1929 and much later towed to Eckley where it was used as a resort, dance hall, fishing pier, and bar. A commercial failure, the boat was eventually left to rot, then in 1983 destroyed by a wildfire that swept overland. Some wreckage is apparently still visible in the water. The image is a scan from a 50 year old Kodachrome taken when I was an undergrad at Berkeley.

Wonder if it was done by a professional sign painter or the owner. If the latter, there is another source of income.
It is a "wrap". The image is printed on a large format printer, on vinyl that has an adhesive back. Then it is applied much like a decal or sticker.

It has revolutionized graphics and advertising.

Some house cats are remarkably bold and fierce. One that belonged to a friend, which lived to near 20 and weighed over 17 pounds, was notoriously intolerant of dogs entering its territory and quick to chase away such intruders. The two resident dogs, one a very large flat-coated retriever, always gave way when Omar strutted by.
For sure. Years ago I had a domestic cat that chased every dog that came into my yard away. Those dogs who tried to stand their ground wound up with bloody muzzles.
