The company I work at prints a purple "No Tresspassing" sign, and I wondered why. It seemed like an odd color choice. I've since learned that purple paint markings are legally equivalent to a "No Trespassing" sign in a few states, including North Carolina.

I did too, but there are some crazy people out there, in the same place, but several miles away I was driving and this guy driving the other way stopped me. He asked if I saw that huge deer that just crossed the road, I did not since I was pretty much scanning the swamp on one side of the road (there may or may not have been a deer). He said that he might have got out and shot at it, but he could have hit me (since the deer was on the road between us) and he thought I might be a game warden. Most hunters are pretty careful, that guy wasn't hunting at the time, but he probably did have a rifle and he may have been drinking. This is one of the few signs I've seen in this place without bullet holes in it.

That spot is at a bottom of hill. Before they put the posts in off-road cyclists would come flying through that gap and run into any walkers, cars, horses or other cyclists just coming around the corner. Now the dummer ones just wipe themselves out in the chicane.
