Ok, here's the winner. This is the Inland Taipan (Oxyuranus Microlepidotus), common to central Australia.
Tip for would be travellers to the outback: Don't step over logs without looking at what's on the other side, as you might tread on the world's most venomous snake.
I'm afraid of Australia.

I'm fond of my native Ontario species, like this Northern Redbelly Snake, Storeria occipitomaculata. It's in the running for the world's least deadly snake:

Nothing to be afraid off. But, since 5 of the top 10 most venomous roam on this Continent, you do need to exercise a slight amount of reserve.

Top 10 Most Venomous Snakes - Listverse

So if, for example, you were out on sentry duty in the Aussie bush in the middle of the night on an Army exercise and you came in out of the wet and/or the cold after your stint was up, it wasn't a great idea to jump immediately back into your sleeping bag, without checking first, in case a creeply-crawly had found the warmth of it inviting.

This Northern Brownsnake is in that least deadly category, this little guy was also about as big around as a pencil, I almost stepped on him yesterday. They really blend in well with the brown leaves and sticks on the forest floor.

The one that got away... common garter snake - one of the only species you really see in the lower mainland area

Eastern Box Turtle

Skink, probably a Broadhead Skink, hard to tell from the 5 lined skink, except for size and faded looking body. Had to get out the flash, this one wanted to stay well in the shadows of a wood pile.

So far my first decent shot this year of our most common reptile, the Green Enole. Brown here because he had been sitting on a brown background.

Twio reptiles and an insect in the first one, although you have to look close to see the dragonfly above the lizard, and the turtle in the pond is part of the bokeh. Second shot is self-explanatory, taken at a wildlife refuge/animal convalescent home/petting zoo near Boquette, Panama.

Tiny reptile, taking in the sun. Very skittish, and I had only a 58mm lens mounted. The Helios 44-2 was difficult to focus just right, but worked out well
